Medicine information
Uses & overview
Mefenamic Acid + Paracetamol is a combination medicine used to help manage mild to moderate pain and fever when recommended by a healthcare professional. Mefenamic Acid belongs to the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) group and works by reducing the production of certain substances responsible for pain and inflammation. Paracetamol helps relieve pain and reduce fever through a different mechanism. Together, these ingredients can provide effective symptomatic relief for various painful conditions. Depending on the patient's condition, this combination may be recommended for headache, toothache, muscle or body pain, menstrual pain, joint discomfort, and fever associated with certain illnesses. The appropriate dosage and duration depend on factors such as age, medical history, other medicines, and the severity of symptoms.
How to use
Take only as prescribed: Use Mefenamic Acid + Paracetamol according to the dose and duration recommended by your doctor or pharmacist. Do not increase the dose or use it for longer than advised. Take with food: Taking this medicine with or after food may help reduce stomach irritation associated with Mefenamic Acid. Follow your healthcare professional's specific instructions regarding timing. Swallow with water: If you are using tablets, swallow them whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew them unless your doctor or pharmacist specifically advises you to do so. Follow the prescribed schedule: Take each dose at the recommended interval. Do not take doses more frequently than prescribed, even if pain or fever has not completely improved. Avoid duplicate Paracetamol: Check other medicines you are taking to ensure they do not also contain Paracetamol (acetaminophen). Taking multiple Paracetamol-containing products can increase the risk of overdose and liver damage. Do not combine with other NSAIDs: Avoid taking additional painkillers such as ibuprofen, diclofenac, or aspirin for pain unless your doctor specifically recommends them, as combining NSAIDs can increase the risk of stomach and kidney-related side effects. Missed dose: If you forget a dose, take it when you remember if needed, unless it is almost time for the next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to compensate for a missed dose. Stay within the recommended duration: This combination is generally intended for short-term symptomatic relief unless your doctor recommends longer treatment. Do not use it continuously without medical supervision. Inform your doctor: Tell your healthcare professional if you have a history of stomach ulcers, kidney or liver disease, asthma triggered by painkillers, or allergies to NSAIDs.
