Medicine information
Uses & overview
Tolperisone HCl (150 mg) Tablets contain tolperisone hydrochloride, a centrally acting muscle relaxant that acts on the nervous system to help reduce increased muscle tone in selected medical conditions. A healthcare professional may prescribe tolperisone in situations where reducing muscle stiffness is considered appropriate. The approved uses and clinical recommendations for tolperisone can differ between countries, so treatment should follow local prescribing information. Muscle stiffness and increased muscle tone can occur for different reasons, including certain neurological or musculoskeletal conditions. Tolperisone may help manage symptoms in eligible patients, but it does not treat every cause of muscle pain or stiffness. A proper medical assessment is important to determine whether this medicine is suitable and whether other treatments, such as physiotherapy, are needed. Tolperisone requires careful use because it may cause dizziness, weakness, or other adverse effects. Hypersensitivity reactions, including serious allergic reactions, have also been reported. Stop taking the medicine and seek urgent medical attention if you develop swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, or another sign of a severe allergic reaction. Before starting treatment, inform your healthcare professional about any previous medicine allergies, kidney or liver problems, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and all other medicines or supplements you use. Follow the prescribed dose and duration, and do not increase the dose if symptoms continue. If your symptoms persist, worsen, or are accompanied by new neurological symptoms, seek medical assessment.
How to use
Take Tolperisone HCl 150 mg tablets only according to your doctor's prescription and the product's approved instructions. Confirm the tablet strength and recommended frequency on the packaging or prescription before taking each dose. Swallow the tablet with sufficient water. Do not crush or chew it unless the product instructions specifically allow this. Follow your doctor's or product leaflet's directions about taking the medicine with food. Take the medicine at the prescribed times and do not take additional tablets to obtain faster relief. Do not change the dose, stop a prescribed treatment course, or extend treatment without discussing it with your healthcare professional. Inform your doctor about all medicines and supplements you use, especially if you have previously experienced an allergic reaction to medication. Tell your healthcare professional if you have kidney or liver disease, are pregnant, or are breastfeeding. If you miss a dose, follow your prescription instructions or ask your pharmacist for advice. Do not take a double dose to compensate. Avoid driving if you experience dizziness, weakness, or other symptoms that affect your alertness or coordination. Stop taking the medicine and seek urgent medical help if you experience breathing difficulty, facial swelling, or other signs of a serious allergic reaction. Store the tablets according to the manufacturer's instructions and keep them out of the reach of children.
