Medicine information
Uses & overview
SAVELINER 400 Tablet contains Sevelamer 400 mg, a non-calcium, non-metal phosphate binder used to manage elevated blood phosphorus levels in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), including patients undergoing dialysis. Sevelamer works locally in the digestive tract by binding phosphate from food and reducing its absorption into the bloodstream. SAVELINER 400 is used as part of an overall phosphate-management plan that may include a prescribed renal diet and dialysis. Unlike calcium-based phosphate binders, sevelamer does not contribute additional calcium to the body. The required dose is individualized according to serum phosphorus levels, dietary phosphate intake, dialysis status, and the patient's response to treatment. SAVELINER 400 is a product of Steris Healthcare and contains Sevelamer 400 mg per tablet. It should be used only under the supervision of a nephrologist or qualified healthcare professional, with appropriate monitoring of phosphate and other relevant laboratory parameters.
How to use
Take SAVELINER 400 exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Sevelamer should generally be taken with meals because it needs to bind phosphate present in food. Swallow the tablet with water and do not crush, chew, or break it unless your healthcare professional specifically instructs you to do so. Continue following your prescribed renal diet and dialysis schedule. Your doctor may adjust the dose according to your blood phosphorus levels and response to treatment. If you miss a dose, follow your doctor's instructions and do not take an extra dose without medical advice. Sevelamer can affect the absorption of some oral medicines. Inform your doctor or pharmacist about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and supplements you take.
Storage
Store SAVELINER 400 Tablets in a cool, dry place away from excessive heat, moisture, and direct sunlight. Keep the tablets in their original packaging and out of reach of children and pets. Do not use the medicine after its expiry date or if the packaging is damaged.
