Medicine information
Uses & overview
Bicalumutide 50 Tablet is an antiandrogen medicine containing Bicalutamide 50 mg as its active ingredient. Bicalutamide belongs to the class of nonsteroidal antiandrogens and works by blocking the action of male hormones called androgens. Androgens can stimulate the growth of prostate cancer cells. Bicalumutide 50 is prescribed as part of hormone therapy for certain patients with advanced or metastatic prostate cancer, generally in combination with an LHRH/GnRH medicine as directed by the treating physician. The medicine is available as an oral tablet and should be taken exactly as prescribed. Patients should inform their doctor about existing liver problems and all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and supplements they are taking. Regular medical follow-up may be required during treatment. Bicalutamide may cause side effects such as hot flashes, weakness, nausea, abdominal discomfort, swelling, or breast tenderness. Contact your doctor promptly if you develop yellowing of the skin or eyes or other concerning symptoms.
How to use
Take Bicalumutide 50 exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Bicalutamide 50 mg is generally taken orally once daily, with or without food, preferably at approximately the same time each day. For the approved metastatic prostate cancer regimen, it is used together with an LHRH/GnRH therapy and treatment should be followed according to your oncologist's instructions. Swallow the tablet with water and do not crush or chew it unless specifically instructed by your healthcare professional. Do not take more than the prescribed dose. If you miss a dose, follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions and do not double the next dose. Do not stop treatment without consulting your doctor.
Storage
