Torsemide Injection is a prescription loop diuretic used to help manage excess fluid accumulation (oedema) associated with conditions such as heart failure and certain kidney or liver disorders. It may also be used in selected clinical situations where injectable treatment is required to manage fluid overload or blood pressure, according to the approved product information. Torsemide works in the kidneys by inhibiting the sodium-potassium-chloride transport system in the loop of Henle. This increases the excretion of sodium, chloride, and water through urine, helping reduce fluid retention, swelling, and the workload on the heart. Injectable torsemide is generally administered intravenously by a trained healthcare professional in a hospital or appropriate clinical setting. The medicine may cause increased urination, dizziness, low blood pressure, dehydration, and changes in electrolytes such as potassium and sodium. Medical monitoring is important because excessive fluid loss can affect kidney function and overall fluid balance. Patients with liver disease, kidney impairment, gout, diabetes, or existing electrolyte abnormalities should inform their doctor before treatment.
कैसे उपयोग करें
Follow the prescribed dose: The doctor determines the dose according to the patient's condition, severity of fluid retention, kidney function, blood pressure, and response to treatment. Do not select or adjust the dose yourself. Use the correct route: Torsemide Injection is generally administered intravenously (into a vein). The healthcare professional will confirm the correct route and method for the specific product. Ensure appropriate administration: Intravenous torsemide must be administered at the recommended rate. The injection should not be given rapidly unless specifically permitted by the approved product instructions. Allow clinical monitoring: Blood pressure, urine output, hydration, and symptoms of fluid overload may be monitored during treatment. Attend recommended blood tests: Your doctor may check kidney function and electrolyte levels, particularly potassium and sodium, because excessive diuresis can cause potentially serious imbalances. Report other medical conditions: Inform the healthcare team if you have kidney disease, liver cirrhosis, diabetes, gout, difficulty passing urine, or a history of allergy to torsemide or related medicines. Review other medicines: Tell your doctor about all medicines you use, particularly other diuretics, blood pressure medicines, lithium, and anti-inflammatory painkillers such as ibuprofen. Report concerning symptoms: Inform the healthcare team promptly if you experience severe dizziness, fainting, muscle cramps, unusual weakness, ringing in the ears, or reduced urine output. Check the injection before use: The healthcare professional should inspect the solution for discolouration or visible particles and follow the manufacturer's storage and handling instructions.
