Etoricoxib Tablets IP (120 mg) contain etoricoxib, a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor used to reduce pain and inflammation in several musculoskeletal and inflammatory conditions. By selectively inhibiting the COX-2 enzyme, etoricoxib decreases the production of prostaglandins involved in pain, swelling, and inflammation. It may be prescribed for conditions including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and acute gouty arthritis. The 120 mg strength is generally associated with specific acute pain or inflammatory indications and should not be used at this strength for longer than medically recommended. Unlike traditional NSAIDs that inhibit both COX-1 and COX-2, etoricoxib has greater selectivity for COX-2. However, COX-2 selectivity does not eliminate the possibility of serious NSAID-related adverse effects. Etoricoxib may increase the risk of cardiovascular events, particularly with higher doses, prolonged use, or in people who already have cardiovascular risk factors. It can also cause or worsen high blood pressure and may affect kidney function. Etoricoxib should be used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration appropriate for the condition. It should not be combined with other NSAIDs, including medicines containing diclofenac, ibuprofen, naproxen, or high-dose aspirin, unless specifically advised by a healthcare professional. Patients with a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding, heart disease, stroke, uncontrolled hypertension, kidney disease, or liver problems should inform their doctor before treatment.
कैसे उपयोग करें
Take Etoricoxib Tablets IP (120 mg) exactly as prescribed by your doctor or healthcare professional. Swallow the tablet whole with a sufficient amount of water. Do not crush or chew it unless specifically instructed. Etoricoxib can generally be taken with or without food, but follow the instructions provided with your prescription. Take the medicine at approximately the same time each day if regular treatment has been prescribed. For acute conditions where the 120 mg strength is prescribed, use it only for the duration recommended by your doctor. Do not take more than the prescribed dose because higher doses may increase the risk of cardiovascular, kidney, and other adverse effects. Do not combine etoricoxib with other NSAID painkillers unless your healthcare professional specifically recommends the combination. Tell your doctor if you are taking medicines for high blood pressure, heart conditions, blood thinning, or other chronic conditions. If you miss a dose, take it when remembered unless it is nearly time for the next dose; do not double the next dose. Seek medical attention for severe chest pain, breathing difficulty, black stools, significant swelling, or signs of a serious allergic reaction. Continue treatment only for the prescribed period and attend follow-up appointments when recommended.
