LAMOTRIZ 25
When it comes to managing epilepsy and certain mood disorders Lamotrigine 25 mg tablet (brand name LAMOTRIZ 25) plays an important role. Many patients and caregivers look for effective, reliable, and safe treatment options, and lamotrigine dispersible tablets have become a widely trusted choice. Whether you are prescribed lamotrigine 25 mg oral tablet for the first time or looking to understand its long-term benefits, this guide will cover everything you need to know from a patient’s perspective.
What is Lamotrigine Dispersible 25?
Lamotrigine dispersible tablets are antiepileptic (anti-seizure) medicines that help in controlling abnormal electrical activity in the brain. LAMOTRIZ 25 is designed as a dispersible tablet, which means it can be dissolved in water or swallowed directly, making it easier for patients who have difficulty swallowing.
The lamotrigine 25 mg tablet is commonly prescribed for:
-
Epilepsy – To control and prevent different types of seizures.
-
Bipolar Disorder – To stabilize mood and prevent extreme mood swings.
Lamotrigine Indications
Doctors prescribe lamotrigine dispersible for several conditions, including:
-
Partial seizures (with or without secondary generalization)
-
Generalized seizures such as tonic-clonic seizures
-
Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (a severe form of childhood epilepsy)
-
Bipolar depression and mood stabilization
Lamotrigine Mechanism of Action
The lamotrigine mechanism of action is based on blocking certain sodium channels in the brain, which prevents excessive release of glutamate (an excitatory neurotransmitter). By doing so, the medicine reduces abnormal brain activity, controlling seizures and stabilizing mood in patients with bipolar disorder.
Lamotrigine Dose (25 mg Tablet)
The lamotrigine dose is carefully adjusted by doctors depending on age, condition, and patient response.
-
For epilepsy, treatment often starts with lamotrigine 25 mg oral tablet once a day. The dose is then gradually increased.
-
For bipolar disorder, doctors may begin with lamotrigine 25 mg tab daily and slowly raise the dose over several weeks to minimize side effects.
Important: Never change the dose on your own. Always follow your doctor’s instructions.
